What does Regenerative Agriculture mean?
Today, we find ourselves and our global food system at a critical crossroads, with sustainability now a central focus for addressing environmental and economic challenges. With interest in sustainable food sourcing - and particularly regenerative farming - continuing to gain traction, customers are increasingly concerned about where the food we consume comes from. The Ethical Butcher believes that “Regenerative agriculture is a conservation and rehabilitation approach to food and farming systems.”
It’s a farming method that focuses on topsoil regeneration, increasing biodiversity, improving the water cycle, enhancing ecosystem services, supporting biosequestration, increasing resilience to climate change, and strengthening the health and vitality of farm soil. This isn’t just a 2025 food fad or trend - it’s a fundamental shift - one that we shouldn’t ignore. Eating sustainably should no longer be a luxury, it’s a necessity and collectively, we can continue working towards building a brighter future for agriculture.
Who are The Ethical Butcher?
The Ethical Butcher launched in 2020 with a mission to address the growing concerns around food provenance, animal welfare, and the environmental impacts of meat production. CEO & Founder, Farshad Kazemian, set out to transform meat consumption by focusing on sustainability, taste, and quality, whilst ensuring the process from ‘farm to fork’, benefited the planet. Guided by a commitment to quality and taste, Ethical Butcher collaborates exclusively with farmers who practice regenerative agriculture, enhancing biodiversity and restoring the land.
This approach positively impacts the British countryside, promotes animal welfare, and ultimately benefits those who consume their products. Today, around 70% of The Ethical Butcher's business is now owned by regenerative farmers, and caters to both the hospitality wholesale sector and the environmentally conscious consumer, offering a range of meats available by the cut or in pre-packaged boxes, with chef-approved recipes easily accessible online.
